Your genes, your cells, and the proteins your body produces are all created by God to bring joy, peace, and purpose to your life!

We read these words from holy Scripture, and they should energize us: “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

You are created in the image of God and God doesn’t have any fear. Jesus has no fear.  The Holy Spirit has no fear. If you are a Jesus disciple, you have been given No Fear DNA.

No Fear DNA

Your genetic code as a born-again believer has NO FEAR written all over it. God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear. We pick up fear from the values and circumstances of the world. It’s the battle of the mind.

Yet, all of us struggle with fear. I struggle with fear. Even last night I awoke with fear in my mind over something. But what I did might be instructive. I took my thoughts captive to obedience to God’s truth.

Taking your Fearful Thoughts Captive

Because we all struggle with fears in our life, we are faced daily with the battle to renew our mind and take all our fearful, worry-filled thoughts captive.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

So how do we take captive our thoughts? Our verses are the key. We must learn to turn our thoughts around in midstream. This means that we open our Bible to any passage of truth that brings courage to you and you meditate on it. You surrender your fear to God in prayer and then you focus, focus, focus on God’s truth.

Last night I couldn’t sleep because of an overwhelming fear in my mind. I got up, went into my study, put on praise music, focused on Proverbs 3:5-8 until all my fears evaporated. I then did some research on the problem, let God give me the solution, and went back to bed. I slept soundly.
