Jesus had a magnificent obsession! Jesus was obsessed with the coming of the Kingdom of God. He spoke of it more than any other topic (over one hundred times). He told His followers to pray “Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10). Jesus taught His disciples to preach the Kingdom of God wherever they went.
As a college student, I became obsessed with Jesus and as a missionary, I became obsessed with the Kingdom of God. Again, it was Jesus that said “Seek first the Kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33). I discovered the reality that Jesus came not just to save sinners but to build His kingdom on earth. I became aware of the Kingdom as a new world order that Jesus came to establish on the earth and I became one of His revolutionaries.
There are many obsessions one can have. I know people obsessed with being a millionaire, a professional athlete or driving a Bentley. Our heart follows the place of our time, energy and money. We focus on what we treasure. We become obsessed with our treasures.
Where or who is your treasure? Where or who is your focus? Clarity comes with focus. Focus follows faith. Focus on the treasure. When you make the Kingdom of God your treasure, your focus becomes simple. Everything lines up.
The Kingdom of God brings focus, faith and clarity. If you make the magnificent obsession of Jesus yours, life will be marked with righteousness, peace and joy. (Romans 14:17).
