Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God
(Matthew 5:8, NKJV).
A pure heart is a heart full. Jesus is speaking of a heart full of God, full of love and full of expectation. Jesus is explaining to us that the only way to happiness is a life in authentic pursuit of Him.
Jesus said it another way in a debate with the Pharisees, “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength.” (Matthew 22:35~38, NKJV). To be in pursuit of God with a pure heart is to go after God in everything we do.
A pure heart sees God, because God reveals Himself to the wholehearted. Jesus doesn’t care what kind of intelligence we were born with, what kind of job we have or what kind of life we’ve lived up to now. He wants our heart. The Bible says, “Seek the Lord your God and you will find Him if you seek Him with all of your heart.” (Deuteronomy 4:29, NKJV).
We find God only by seeking Him with all of our heart. We experience God when we are seeking Him with all of our being. God is always seeking to know us and He is calling out to us for a personal, vital, dynamic, growing relationship. When we respond and seek Him with a pure heart, He reveals His character, His goodness and His love to us.
Seek the Lord today! Open His Word, ask Him to speak to you. He says that if you will, He will reveal Himself to you!
