From Pastor Steve: The following is a guest column provided by Pam Holloway (RN, MA), who has been used powerfully in our church and around the nation to heal thousands of people. In the current crisis within healthcare, Pam has become one of the key health professionals we go to in times of health issues and medical questions. Anxiety is Crippling
As followers of Christ, many are aware of Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” How we nourish the temple (our physical body) directly impacts our ability to pray, petition, and receive the peace of God.
Anxiety is crippling. According to the CDC, 54% of our children are chronically ill. One in ten children are diagnosed as anxious. Anxiety in adults resulting in medication use is also at an all-time high.
Symptoms of anxiety can often be nebulous, including:
- muscle tension or chest tightness;
- heart palpitations or high blood pressure;
- insomnia, irritability, restlessness, sweating;
- digestion issues (reflux, constipation, stomach aches);
- difficulty concentrating (brain fog).
Anxiety erupts when the garden is starved of nutrients. The soil of the garden resides in our digestive track, specifically the microbes that make up the majority of who we are as a person. Ninety percent of serotonin, a mood stabilizing hormone, is produced in our gut.
Happy Gut = Healthy Brain = Resilient Heart
Consuming a clean and well-balanced diet, gentle movement, a healthy environment free of toxins and holding every thought captive, rapidly improve your body’s ability to experience God’s peace. It can be accomplished in four steps.
Step 1: Stop the Fire of Inflammation
Remove environmental toxins (chemically scented products, etc.) and processed foods from your diet. Stop all consumption of:
- seed and vegetable oils (canola, corn, peanut, safflower, etc.) used in fried foods, sauces, and dressings;
- refined processed sugars;
- conventionally grown and processed dairy products (homogenized pasteurized cow’s milk, etc.);
- conventionally grown wheat, corn, and soy products;
- pork (including organic) due to high levels of omega-6 that creates inflammation as well as mRNA vaccine additives that introduce artificial mRNA into the human genome, altering DNA.
Step 2: Feed the Roots of Your Microbiome Garden at the right time.
Practice intermittent fasting. When you do eat, create a soothing environment, and give thanks to the Lord before eating, asking Him to bring His shalom shalom (perfect peace). Consume foods that combat anxiety like:
- wild-caught fish (salmon, mackerel, tuna, white fish, herring);
- healthy fats (avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, ghee, tallow);
- grass-fed, grass-finished beef to include organ meats;
- organic pasture raised poultry and eggs;
- fermented foods (organically produced sauerkraut, kefir);
- fresh or flash frozen fruits & vegetables (celery, bok choy, broccoli, beets, artichokes, leafy greens, berries);
- sea vegetables (seaweed, kelp);
- nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews);
- seeds (soaked/sprouted flax, chia, hemp, pumpkin);
- herbs, teas, essential oils (lavender, chamomile, valerian, maca root, turmeric).
Step 3: Utilize Nutriceuticals to correct imbalances quickly while focusing on repairing the roots of your microbiome.
A few tools that may help include:
- ION* Gut Support restores gut integrity and improves microbiome diversity;
- NutraMedix RelaxMedix quickly soothes anxiety and can be used frequently;
- BiotiQuest Sugar Shift Probiotic;
- Magnesium;
- B Vitamins;
- Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids.
Step 4: PRAISE & WORSHIP.
Sing out loud while moving to praise music. The act of singing and dancing shifts the body out of fear and into joy. It chases away the shadows, aligning your thoughts and actions with the Lord, “holding every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5). This is core to our way ahead as the issues that are coming cannot be dealt with by leaning on our own understanding…. Everything (to include our ability to access clean nutrition) is being turned inside out. God knew this would happen. God knows we are literally going to walk through Psalm 91 and we need to know He will show us the way and provide the tools we need to continue to achieve our mission and bring Him glory. Those tools are chiefly dependent on holding every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
