Hi Steve
I saw you interviewed for a program we have on TV here in Australia, "Foreign Correspondent." I felt a "connection" as I watched, and headed for your church's website, and via that, your blog.
I loved all the human interest stories from this year's Olympics - one that inspired me the most was of Anna Mears, one of our Australian cyclists, who was almost paralyzed in a training accident just 7 months before she was due to compete in Beijing. She fought back and won silver in her cycling event.
It seems to me that, as Christians, we need to have that same tenacity and passion - to pick ourselves up (or maybe allow God to pick us up) when we've fallen, and "get back on the bike" again!
Isn't that what Paul was talking about in Philippians 3 - "forgetting what lies behind, and straining to what lies ahead, I press on to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
Thanks so much for your "inklings" - long may they continue!
Your brother in Christ,
John

Steve,
Another great message. I noticed today you are starting the Pursuit school soon. It's great to see you are bringing up the next generation to share your passion. Wish I could attend, but someone has to stay in Hawaii and do this job. :) Please pray for Chrystal and me.

It has been amazing to me watching this year's Olympics. Even the VISA commercials seem inspiring, but it is not as inspiring as reading your story. Reading your blog and Eli's blog has made the Olympics more tangible and I've found myself praying for Olympians like Michael Phelps and all the Chinese gymnasts. Thank you for sharing.

Steve,

I am so excited about what God is doing at MSC thru you and the other pastors. I am reading a fabulous book called A Thomas Jefferson Education. The whole premise of the book is mentorship. I am excited to see what God will do with our young people. I am still praying for my 16 year, Jon, to be captivated by a passion for Jesus. Watching the Olympics really amazes me because I know that we should be developing the discipline and passion to Christ just as the gymnast does to gymnastics! Look forward to reading the next blog.
Keep pursuing God!
You are all in our prayers.
